Reducing revenue cycle denial in Critical Access Hospitals
This grant provides funding to cover the costs of implementing a financial/operational improvement project for their Critical Access Hospital (CAH) using federal Flex funding.

Applicants shall provide a one-page word document outlining their proposal of how they will achieve the grant requirements outlined below.

Deadline: May 24, 2024, before 5:00 p.m. MDT.
Grant requirements:
- Hire a qualified data analytics vendor to manage activities that would streamline the CAH revenue cycle management process
- Based on vendor feedback, create workflow changes to reduce projected denied claims
- Provide the CAH’s insurance claims denial percentage as a baseline measurement at the beginning of the project
- Identify and quantify the reasons for claims denials by provider, by procedure, and by insurance payers
- Update workflows as needed based on the reasons for denials
- Manage these measurable outcomes:

- create at least 3 workflow corrections to streamline revenue cycle denial management.
- report anticipated changes that show a projected 25% decrease in forecasted denials.
