Preventing Hepatic Encephalopathy in Patients With Cirrhosis

This session will explore complexities of managing hepatic encephalopathy through case-based discussion. Learn about the pathophysiologic processes and neurologic manifestations of the various stages of HE due to cirrhotic liver disease. Attendees will also learn how to monitor and effectively manage patients at risk for recurrent HE and review the mechanisms of actions, administration, effectiveness, and adverse events of oral therapies that can be used to maintain serum ammonia concentrations at safe levels in patients with a history of HE.
